Before you turn away and think this is another anti-bullying campaign, look beyond the words written on the place card, and rather look at what each picture is trying to convey. In all honesty, when growing up, I can’t say that I was the nicest kid. The fact was that I was a bully. But in reality, at some point in every single one of our lives, we are bullies. If you don’t believe me then take a look at the facts:
v 30 percent of students are either bullies or victims of bullying
v 160,000 kids stay home from school every day because of fear of bullying.
v Suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people, resulting in about 4,400 deaths per year, according to the CDC.
v For every suicide among young people, there are at least 100 suicide attempts.
v Over 14% of high school students have considered suicide, and almost 7% have attempted it.
These pictures epitomize the sterotypes associated with, and the harsh effects of bullying. Today society thinks that it is so wrong to be fat, so wrong to be gay and express yourself. That is why I made mine in the form of committing a crime. The victims are committing a crime according to our society. What would your crime be?
